Values
From my perspective, values are beliefs or principles that I hold onto, that serves as a guide on how I do things. And these values are different for each and every people. These values can be developed based on how they were brought up, or it can also be based on influence of the surroundings.
Some of the values that I hold onto in life are responsibility, loyal and caring. In terms of actions and behaviors, for responsibility, it is the act of fulfilling a task I’d assigned to myself or given to me, whether I like it or not. This value is definitely one of the heaviest values I hold onto indeed. But having this value helps me in terms of doing things properly, since these things can affect the other party if it’s not being done accurately. In terms of loyal, which is to show constant support for something or someone. For instance, I’d be sticking to that particular practice, brand, product, or someone, even when there is a newer or more interesting ones coming along the way in the future. For caring, it is the action of showing concern to something or someone, and willing to do or provide anything for it/them, so that it/they would be comfortable or attained to its/their needs. With caring as my core value, I would always try to ensure that the things I care for are fulfilled.
To match these three personal values to personal goals of being good at baking and editing videos, firstly for responsibility, I’d have to act by starting to actually try and bake something, and edit videos, consistently. This would reflect my value of responsibility whereby I’m actually putting in effort to achieve my goal instead of doing nothing. For loyalty, I would need to stay on track in attaining my goals, even though there might be numerous obstacles and distractions that could potentially make me feel gradually unmotivated, no longer interested, or inclined to continue on the same path. In order to be loyal to attaining my goals, I can do so by keeping track of them by recording the progresses digitally on my phone. Lastly, for caring, if I’d really want to accomplish the personal goal that I have, I’m going to have to care about whatever that may come in the way of reaching the goal and take care of it. For instance, obstacle of failing to master a particular feature of editing videos. I’d have to take care of this obstacle by continuously trying till I eventually become good at it.
